Our Story

  • First We Meet

    February 9, 2017

It was a proper Canadian meeting. A quick visit to Timmy’s in Ridgetown for coffee turned into two, and an evening of talking was cut off only by our need to get to work the next day.

  • 2nd Coffee Date

    February 26, 2017

We met at Williams Coffee in London, where one drink turned into two, again, and we closed the restaurant. We walked in Victoria Park past the point of cold; it was freeeeezzzinggggg! We just were not ready to leave. This date ended with a small kiss because only then did we realize just how cold we really were.

  • First Date

    March 21, 2017

It was a day-date filled with cards, laughter, endless conversation, coffee, and gardens. After lunch, Mike surprised Hailey and made Boterkoek (a Dutch family recipe almond cake), which won her over and earned her first kiss. It was the magical kiss of a lifetime, one that fairytales are written about! With sparks flying everywhere, it was the perfect first date. We have learned to cherish day-dates since.

  • Next Steps

    May 2017

Our little families met for the first time and quickly grew! Calleigh joined us October 2018, and Genevieve June 2020. We began planning many adventures together as a family and enjoyed countless more. From day trips to full excursions in Algonquin, Toronto, Niagara, Ohio (we don’t talk about Ohio) and Kingston. We have many more surprises for the coming years too.

  • The Ring!

    January 6, 2024

Mike booked a perfect Airbnb in the country and made reservations for dinner at The Artisan Grill, one of Hailey's favourite places. We then returned to our private apartment with a hot tub, flowers, wine, and the perfect proposal. The ring was made specially from Hailey's Mim’s wedding band and a ring from her mom, topping it off with hand- selecting a hexagon, premium-cut Alexandrite for the setting. It’s everything Hailey ever dreamed of and more. Michael’s band is a tungsten with meteorite lightning bolts which glow in the dark. We also had a Celtic cross and infinity symbol tattooed on our ring fingers to symbolize our never-ending love and devotion to each other and the family we’ve built together.

  • More Adventures to Come!

Finally, we will share updated pictures and details as we move in together, get married, navigate our careers, and embark on our exciting honeymoon adventure! With graduations, Conferences on the East coast, new careers on the horizon, a new house, Mike turning 40, and all of the kids’ sports and passions, this year is bound to be the most epic year to date!

Our love story will never end, for a life built on trust, connection, and passion cannot fade away.
